What a studio pays, and what happens if it stops

v0.5

This agreement is between Soundslot ("we", "us") and the studio that subscribes ("you"). It covers the money between us: the plan, the fee on card sales, renewal, changing plan, cancelling, and when we pause your ability to make changes. Booking, deposits, refunds and text messages are in the terms of service, which applies to you as well.

The trial

A new account gets 14 days. A card is collected at signup and nothing is charged until the trial ends; the first invoice is on day 15. Cancel before then and you are not billed. The trial is one per studio, not one per plan.

The plan

You pay monthly, in advance, for one of three plans. Rooms are the only thing measured: an active room counts, an archived one does not, and the count never falls below one. Locations and staff accounts are unlimited on every plan. A room past your plan's included number bills at that plan's extra-room rate rather than blocking anything.

  • Basic — $39 a month, 3 rooms included, $12 a month per room after that, and 1.5% of card sales.
  • Studio — $89 a month, 8 rooms included, $10 a month per room after that, and 1% of card sales.
  • Pro — $189 a month, 20 rooms included, $8 a month per room after that, and 0.5% of card sales.

The fee on card sales

When a customer pays you by card, we take a percentage of that payment, set by your plan and listed above. It is taken as the money moves, so you receive the remainder and there is no separate invoice for it. The card processor's own cost is theirs and is separate from ours.

  • The rate is the one recorded against your account on the day of the charge. Changing plan does not re-rate a payment already taken.
  • When you refund a booking, our fee comes back in proportion to the amount refunded. The card processor's cost on the original payment does not come back, from us or from them.
  • A fee that has been waived for your account carries an end date, and the standard rate for your plan applies from that date.
  • Money that arrives outside the card flow, such as cash or your own terminal recorded at the desk, carries no fee from us.

Renewal

The subscription renews every month, automatically, until you cancel it. Each renewal is charged to the card on file through Stripe. If a charge fails we retry it, and we email you at each attempt; a run of failures ends the subscription rather than accruing a debt.

Changing plan

A plan change takes effect immediately and is prorated in both directions. Moving up bills you the difference for the rest of the month; moving down credits it against your next invoice. Stripe calculates the proration, and the plan we record is the one it hands back.

Cancelling

Cancel from the billing portal in your console, which is Stripe's own. The subscription runs to the end of the month you have paid for and is not renewed. We do not refund the current month for a cancellation part-way through it, unless we billed you wrongly, in which case we correct it.

After it lapses your storefront keeps taking bookings and everyone keeps their read access. What stops is making changes in the console. Your data stays available for export for as long as the account exists; see the privacy policy for how long each kind of record is kept.

When we pause changes

Four things pause writing in the console. Reading is never paused, and neither is your storefront: a band with a booking is not the party at fault.

  • Your account is on hold, for a breach of these terms or of the law.
  • Your subscription has ended without payment.
  • The trial has ended and no card has been added.
  • You have required two-factor authentication for your own staff and an account has not enrolled yet.

Each refusal names which of the four it is, and the billing screens stay reachable so the first three can be fixed from inside the console.

Your side

  • Your listings, prices, opening hours, tax rates and cancellation policies are yours, and you are responsible for their accuracy and for the law that applies to them.
  • You are the merchant of record for a booking. The money is yours, it lands in your own processor account, and a dispute over a session is between you and your customer.
  • Your customer list is yours. We do not use it for our own marketing and we do not sell it.
  • Keep your staff accounts to their own holders, and turn on two-factor.

Our side, and its limits

  • The service is provided as is. We do not promise uninterrupted availability. The status of the four public surfaces will be published at /status once the external monitor is running.
  • Our liability to you is capped at the fees you paid us in the twelve months before a claim. We are not liable for indirect losses, including lost bookings and lost profit.
  • We give 30 days' notice by email before a plan price rises, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Governing law

We are established in the United States and this agreement is governed by US law. The state and the venue are named in the reviewed version of this document. Nothing here removes a consumer right that the law of your own country gives you and does not allow to be waived.
