Dance studios

A dance studio does two things: it rents the floor by the hour, and it sells places in classes. The first is exactly what this product is. The second it does, but with limits worth reading before you commit to it.

Floor hire is a direct fit

A studio rented by the hour to a company, a teacher or a crew is the same object as a rehearsal room: an hourly rate, a minimum, a buffer, opening hours belonging to the building, and a deposit policy of its own.

Teachers who hold the same slot every week are the same arrangement as weekly bands — a standing series that holds the room, prices each session at the rate it was booked at, and edits forward-only when the timetable changes.

Multiple studios in the same building, or two buildings, cost nothing extra. Rooms are the only thing counted, and each location keeps its own hours and timezone.

Classes, as far as they go

A class is a published session with a number of places. Each place somebody buys is an ordinary booking, which means refunds, credit, receipts and reminders all work on it with no separate machinery — and if you cancel the session, every place is refunded in full rather than through the customer's cancellation ladder.

Capacity is enforced properly under a rush, so a class with twelve places sells twelve places even when thirty people are trying at once.

A session can name the teacher, and if that teacher is set up as bookable staff their own hours are respected.

What a class-first product does better

There are no multi-week enrolments. A six-week beginners' course sold as one purchase is not something this models — you would publish six sessions and sell six places, which is not the same product and is more work for the student.

There are no attendance registers, no student records beyond the customer account, no term-based packages, no waivers or parental consent flows, and no progress tracking.

So the split is this: if most of your income is floor hire with classes alongside, this fits well. If most of your income is teaching, a class-management product will fit better and you should use one.

Your studio. Your next chapter.

Floor hire, weekly teacher slots and class seats are all on every plan. Publishing one session is the whole opt-in for classes.
